The Duxford Aviation Society

The Ancillary Services Section This section has two main groups, those who work in the Technical Support section and those who operate the members canteen. The Technical support team maintain much of the equipment needed to restore the aircraft, such as the lift platforms and hydraulic hoists. They also are responsible for operating the tyre bay where the aircraft wheels are repaired and maintained. Their somewhat battered land rover and ancient van, nicknamed Bessy, can be seen chugging round the airfield as they carry out their round of checking, inflating and fixing. The members canteen is a vital source of sustenance for all the volunteers and is operated by a cheerful group of ladies, and one gentleman, in a recently renovated building. All the staff give their time to keeping the volunteers well fed and watered and their efforts are greatly appreciated by all who eat there.
