Friends of Duxford

Friends of Duxford (FOD) was founded in 1999 in a joint initiative between the Duxford Aviation Society and the Imperial War Museum with support from Fly Past magazine. Its aims are to help promote interest in and encourage visitors to the Imperial War Museum Duxford, and help support the Museum both financially and practically. Members not only have unrivalled access to exhibits and parts of the Museum not open to the public, but also the opportunity to take part in exclusive events around the country. They are drawn from all over the country and from all walks of life but have a common interest in the work of DAS and the IWM. The Friends of Duxford is administered by the Duxford Aviation Society.

Duxford Radio Society

The Duxford Radio Society forms the Radio Section at the Imperial War Museum. It is a group of volunteer radio specialists who research, conserve, restore, display and operate historic military radio, radar and navigation equipment to support the Imperial War Museum. DRS working volunteers are also members of the Duxford Aviation Society.

The Private Collections

There are a number of other aircraft collections based at Duxford, some of which are commercial operations involved in the restoration, renovation or reconstruction and display of historic aircraft, mostly military airframes. Many are maintained in airworthy condition and participate in the spectacular Duxford airshows. DAS volunteers work on some of these projects in a supporting role.
