The Duxford Aviation Society

The Fire Section   The DAS Fire Service is unique in being the only volunteer fire service approved to Category 3 operation by the CAA. It provides fire cover on busy weekdays, weekends and for airshows. The service is made up of volunteers and members of the museum staff and regular and frequent training ensure that the service is kept up to the high standards required of an airfield fire service. The fire service now operates with the museums own fire service to provide the cover required on an active airfield and together they form the fire service based at Duxford. On Show days the service's vehicles can be seen drawn up on the live side ready to assist in the event of an incident.
